BGMI-POTENTIAN-BAN

BGMI: India’s Favorite Game Faces Potential Ban Again ?

BGMI is undoubtedly the most popular and played game in India. The Indian gaming community was shocked when the game was banned in 2021. However, after revisions and meetings with Indian government officials, BGMI was launched specifically for the Indian market in May 2023. But according to a report from News18, BGMI might face another ban in india due to potential cybersecurity threats. We also can’t ignore the story of Pakistani woman Seema Haider and Sachin, who met while playing PUBG, leading Seema to immigrate to India (the rest of the story is well-known).

Real Concern With BGMI

There are concerns that the data collected through BGMI might be linked to cybercrimes. Although the game’s servers are located in the US, there are suspicions that they might be connected directly or indirectly to servers in China. Government agencies want to confirm this to prevent any data misuse.

In light of these concerns, a senior official from the Union government’s cybersecurity division, responsible for coordinating with law enforcement agencies, has reportedly recommended discontinuing the app. An official query has been sent to Krafton India regarding this issue, but no response has been received yet.

What Next ?

A meeting is being planned between the Indian government and Krafton for the coming weeks to address these issues This will also give Krafton an opportunity to present their perspective. How to Adjust Sensitivity Of BGMI for Better Game Performance

Earlier, BGMI was unbanned for a trial period of three months to assess the game’s actual impact. We cannot forget the violent incident where a boy killed his mother for not letting him play the game. Additionally, the well-known love story of Seema Haider and Sachin, which began on this game and led Seema to relocate to India, also raises concerns.

Here’s a tweet from a Union Minister at the time of BGMI’s unbanning:

“This is a 3-month trial approval of #BGMI after it has complied with issues of server locations, data security etc. We will keep a close watch on other issues of User harm, Addiction etc in next 3 months before a final decision is taken (sic),”

Final Take Away

As of now, there’s no official information regarding the game’s future. We need to wait for further updates from the government officials and Krafton. Whether BGMI faces another ban remains there. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.
